AEGEE Katowice
AEGEE Katowice, a local branch of the biggest student organisation in Europe (Association des Etats Generaux des Etudiants de l'Europe/ European Students' Forum) was established in 1991, shortly after AEGEE having opened to interested students in Central and Eastern Europe. From that time AEGEE Katowice has started to work very intensively, both on the European and the local level.
Throughout those years plenty of events has been organised. The most spectacular ones were:
- Spring Presidents' Meeting (2.03 - 4.03.2001)
- Fund Raising European School (26.11 - 1.12.2001)
- Survival Summer Universities (4 editions: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007)
- Silesia Workshops of Documentary Photography (November 2004)
- Festival of Absurd Culture "Absurdalia" (2007, 2008)
However, we haven't rested on laurels. To remind the whole AEGEEan network about Katowice antenna, we decided to organise, apart from "Hiking Hiking Hiking!", the Network Meeting, which is going to be held in November.
AEGEE Katowice consists of students of the University of Silesia and the University of Economics in Katowice. We are people for whom studying is not enough in everyday life. People whose e-mails are always full of announcements of courses, events and meetings organised in the whole continent, and even beyond. People who are open, broadening their horizons and deeply involved in the historic process of the European integration, especially on a local level. In brief - the future of the continent.

Studenckie Koło Przewodników Beskidzkich in Katowice
Academic Association of Mountain Guides (Studenckie Koło Przewodników Beskidzkich, SKPB) in Katowice was established in 1963 and its public activity is based on the voluntary work of its members and supporters. From the beginning the SKPB is concentrated on promoting mountaineering in many ways, both in Poland and abroad. Also, it spreads the knowledge of mountains, nature, history and culture as well as encourages people to lead an active and sporting life. Every year SKPB organises guide courses who have helped hundreds of people achieve a mountain guide licence.
Members of the association take part in many various thematic events, many of which are organised by themselves, e.g. mountain trips, orienteering marches, slide shows and workshops concerning ecology and first aid etc.
The SKPB possesses three seasonal camping sites and a student hut ("Bacówka") located close to the main mountain routes in the Beskids which every year offer a shelter to thousands of tourists.
